International Coastal Clean Up of Gerritsen Creek on 10/11/14

It was a rainy day for the volunteers that came out and helped document and remove the garbage from the Gerritsen creek shoreline. We learned about the history of the area and the Gerritsen Mill that was built about 1645 and operated until the late 19th century. It was destroyed by a fire about 1935 and you can still see the foundation and pilings at low tide.
The luck winners of the raffle:
1st Place- Devin Behan
2nd Place- Daphne Coppola
3rd Place- Ashley Huang
A very special thank you to ASTORIA BANK for sponsoring this event.
