Message from Michael Sciaraffo- Please JOIN CHRISTMAS 2.0 WITH THE SECRET SANDY CLAUS PROJECT THIS YEAR!!! PLEASE  SHARE!!!!!! As you know, Christmas is just around the corner and this year the  Secret Sandy Claus Project has an expanded mission: to  get as many children in all the affected areas toys from Santa this Christmas.  We currently have close to 1,000 signed up for toys this year already and it is  only October! I feel that number will only grow as we approach closer to the  holiday season. So, we need your help and continued support again this  Christmas. In order to successfully accomplish this mission, there are a few  things we will need to do this right. Many children on Santa's list are  scattered around the shores in Rockaway, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Long Island  and New Jersey. No matter how good my reindeer will be this year, there is no  way that only one Santa can get to every child alone. So this year, we will need  to recruit as many Santas as possible this year to take on a share of the  workload. I will be recruiting Santas, soliciting donations and setting up multiple toy drives and gift giving events across the affected areas. This is where you come in. Would you be willing to either be a toy collection drop-off point? Would you be willing to dress up as Santa and make personal home visits for toy deliveries? In order to properly organize this endeavor, it will require  a full effort to reach every past donor, future donor, establish toy drive  coordinators as well as every parent and child on our lists. This will not be  possible without some funding mechanism to print flyers, solicit donations via  web, email and internet and pay for the gas and tolls required to physically get  the toys to the various locations where children are waiting for Santa to show  up. Can we count on your continued support to help us reach our goal of getting  a toy into the hands of every one of these children? Please consider making a  tax-deductible donation of money or toys to the Secret Sandy Claus  Project. Without all of your support last year,  none of the magic of last Christmas would never have been possible. Sandy Claus brings some holiday cheer in Brooklyn

We Care  NY volunteers and Secret Sandy Claus Project held a “Christmas in August" event on August 4th. It was a wonderful day for dozens of children and their families.  Sandy Claus arrived with dozens of toy, games, snacks and juice boxes for the kids that signed up for the event. The kids played a game of hot  potato and sang songs with the amazingly talented Lillybeth Hanson. While they waited, the parents and kids read  the  We  Care New York Hurricane Sandy  Resource  Newsletter. Good News!!!!! Sandy Claus said he will do his best to bring Sandy-affected kids a toy before next Christmas. Sign up by clicking here!

The children enjoyed face painting, amazing  balloons and cotton candy by PartiArt 917-229-6886. Rommel Hidalgo, Nicole  D'Agosta and Kerry Pilkey donated their time, products and talented services to help us help others. We Care  NY volunteers Michael Taylor, Patti D'Agosta, Cherie Lang, Hillary Stackpole and  little ones-Kylie and Bryn , Judie Flemming and Lillybeth and Rodger  Hanson were proud to spread a little holiday cheer. WCNY would like to thank Sandy Claus, Michael Sciaraffo and the  Knights of Columbus, Rev. E. J. Matthews Council #5989 for the use of the space and air conditioning for the Christmas party.
