We Care New York
We are proud to announce the start of a new not for profit 501(c)3 charitable organization, where we are building a team of caring like-minded leaders with decades of experience and a track record of administering millions of dollars in charitable services and funding to improve many communities, while being fair, honest and with integrity to help others. WCNY will help residents survive the challenges of life in New York City during a time of crisis or disaster.
Inspired by the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, the organization will be focused on social and environmental services by providing support and outreach services for residents, especially lower income families, on a variety of issues including temporary housing, mold issues and proper remediation, community and home air quality, and the distribution of food, supplies and clothing. Our objective will be to publicly promote issues, and support temporary and long-term solutions for those struggling to survive each and every day.
But we need help from caring volunteers, sponsors, supporters to assist those who are struggling. Our success will depend on the generosity of foundations and funding sources that can provide the financial support necessary to administer programs and services for affected residents. We plan on giving proper credit to everyone that supports our efforts with what they have done to help our cause. Our volunteers that are Sandy victims will be encouraged when they qualify to utilize the services we provide to assist them with recovery efforts. We hope this will help them in some way to help us help more people. We do not need to be thanked by the affected residents we serve. Instead we will encourage them to help us or someone in need whenever they can. It's not going to be an easy time for so many and with some compassion we hope to make it a little better for many.
We intend to work with everyone in the communities we serve giving our best effort, without judging or discriminating against those who request our assistance. To avoid conflicts of interest, our board members will not be elected officials or their staff, due to the many restrictions a charity must follow.
We hope to obtain the necessary funding to implement solutions that will effectively assist residents in need of help. Our support network will start in Brooklyn, and then expand into other communities as leaders, volunteers and funding become available. Click here to make a donation to WCNY.
